Ubuntu Lives Conference, 6th Edition
Ouwais Sadek
“If the people of my country truly understood Ubuntu, perhaps there would be no war”
“My dreams were bigger than my fear.”
Ouwais Sadek likes to imagine life as a train on a long and unpredictable journey. At each station, there are different people, different emotions, and events capable of completely changing the course of the journey.
Her story began in Syria, amid simple dreams, studies, friendships, and a deep desire to build a future.
For several years, she struggled to gain admission to the college program she wanted: English Literature. She repeated high school three times to achieve the required grades. When she finally succeeded in 2011, she had to leave Damascus to study in Homs.
It was precisely at that moment that the war in Syria began.
