She grew up in Brussels, in an environment she acknowledges as deeply privileged. The daughter of Portuguese parents who worked for European institutions, she grew up in a stable family, surrounded by opportunities, a quality education, and stability.

But from an early age, he realized that the world was not limited to the comfortable reality in which he grew up.

His parents taught him that it was essential to look beyond his own bubble—to understand that there were people who did not have access to the same opportunities, security, or rights.

If I had been living in a privileged bubble, then perhaps it was my responsibility to help improve the bubbles of others.
