The book “Living Together in Peace: Ubuntu and Youth, A Global Dialogue” is a celebration of the principles of the Ubuntu philosophy as applied to the global context of youth and peacebuilding. Developed as part of the Ubuntu United Nations project, this book brings together profound reflections and innovative practices that address topics such as servant leadership, reconciliation, interreligious and intercultural dialogue, and overcoming social and economic inequalities. With contributions from global leaders—including Nobel Peace Prize laureates—and young representatives from 185 countries, the book promotes an inspiring vision of unity in diversity and the power of dialogue as tools for a more just and sustainable future.
Readers are invited to delve into a diverse collection of articles, testimonials, and seminars that demonstrate the transformative impact of the Ubuntu methodology in local and global contexts. This work is not merely a repository of ideas, but a call to action, highlighting the crucial role of youth as agents of change and leaders in addressing contemporary challenges such as climate change, poverty, and social exclusion. An essential tool for educators, activists, and leaders committed to promoting a more inclusive and peaceful world.
The Ubuntu United Nations is a project supported by the European Commission through the National Agency for Erasmus+ Youth/Sport. The project is organized by the Instituto Padre António Vieira (coordination), Fundación SM, Fundación Tomillo, and Artevio Marketing SRO.
The dialogue platform for young people from all over the world that seeks to bring together global change agents for an intergenerational debate on today’s greatest challenges. The program aims to reach young people from all countries with a seat in the United Nations, with the goal of engaging them in the defense of human rights, social justice, and sustainable development. The program also calls for the development of four intellectual products:
- Ubuntu Global Network, an online platform featuring a social network and a resource library;
- An online facilitation toolkit;
- A book featuring contributions from participants and guests at the Ubuntu United Nations training;
- A collection of tutorial videos on the dynamics and methodology of the Ubuntu Leaders Academy.
